A note from Jasmin
I spent my high school career with music blasting through my headphones, my head down, and trying not to be perceived. In the age of the early 2000’s, Warped Tour had a vice grip on my heart that turns out really wasn’t just a phase. While “emo” music was beginning to emerge, I, like many other adolescent kids, was drawn to the likes of My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, and Paramore.
Follow Your Bliss Counseling is named after song lyrics from a song called “Can’t be Saved” by Senses Fail, a band I still dearly love to this day. This practice is a love letter to teenage me who resonated too deeply with this song. If there’s anything I wish I could say to teenage me now, I’d tell them not to give up. That things do change. Things actually get so much fucking better. And there’s hope for you yet. Just follow your bliss and you’ll be okay…I promise.
(Also thank you, Buddy Nielsen.)
This practice is also dedicated to all my clients - past, present, and future. It’s interesting to me how many issues are largely resolved when we allow ourselves permission to be exactly who we want to be, have the relationships we want to have, and stop living our lives according to expectations that someone else created for us. But I also very well know that the process it takes to ~allow oneself permission~ can be so much harder than it sounds.
Usually, that’s where I come in. So if you ever find yourself sitting on a couch across from me, it is my sincere hope for you that you find just exactly what your bliss is, and I hope you find the courage to chase it like crazy.
It’ll be such an honor to help you along the way
xoxo
